There’s nothing wrong with any of the things tourists flock to our area to see and do. But what if you want something a little more low-key - and easier on the wallet?
Take a look at this list of a few free or inexpensive things to do around Tampa Bay and get out there and enjoy the area in a whole new way.
🎣 ☀️ Pier 60 🎣 ☀️

Located on Clearwater Beach, Pier 60 is a hive of activity especially on the weekends around sunset. Walk to the end of the pier to watch the sun dip below the horizon, watch free movies under the stars, watch live acts, and check out local vendors. It’s a great way to end a long day on the beach or something to do after dinner.
✔️ J.C. Newman Cigar Company

For the cigar and history lovers out there, the J.C. Newman Cigar Company in Ybor City is a can’t-miss. Founded in 1915 in Ohio, the company relocated to Tampa in the 1950s and took over the Regensburg cigar factory a.k.a. El Reloj. It’s the area’s last working cigar factory with a museum and a cigar shop. While your in Ybor City, find yourself a good Cuban Sandwich. The best anywhere are right there!

Head on over to the Tampa Museum of Art (Friday evenings are pay-as-you-want-admission) and check out the eight galleries in this riverfront museum. Once you’ve seen the art on the inside, come on outside to take in the view and enjoy the sculpture garden. Special events are held all the time.
🐊 Croc Encounter 🐊

Maybe you’ve had an alligator in your backyard or seen one at the golf course and aren’t impressed by watching them anywhere else. For the rest of us, there’s the live alligator show at the Croc Encounter. If you go during Sneak Peek Saturdays, tickets are only $5.

If you don’t already know, you will soon. We’re the spring training home for several baseball teams, but that’s not all. We have our own local teams that you can cheer on during the summer. On Tuesdays, tickets to the Clearwater Threshers home games are only $1 a piece.
🌇 Sunset Beach 🌄

Want to do something a little romantic for your sweetie without breaking the bank? Head on over to Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs just before sunset. The views are amazing, and you may even catch a sunset wedding while you’re there. Don’t cut it too close to when the sun sets or you might not find a parking spot. Get there early enough, and you can have a romantic walk along the beach or do some serious people watching until the sun begins to dip.
