Now is time to get outside and work on your yard. If you plan on selling your home, it’ll help your curb appeal. If you’re not, you’ll still get to enjoy a beautiful lawn.

Clean Out Winter Debris

After the rain and wind from winter, you probably have some old looking mulch or pitiful pine straw around your beds. Limbs and leaves may have blown in and around during a storm. Clean all of that out so you can start fresh.

Change Your Mulch

Now that you have a clean space with work with, it’s time to add new mulch. It will help keep the moisture in as the weather heats up. And new mulch is a cleaner, bolder look too, adding to your curb appeal.

Plant Something Colorful

Go to any garden center or plant store, and it’s alive with color right now. Grab something new and bright and add it to your beds or put potted plants out around your walkway.

Check Your Hoses, Sprinklers, and Irrigation Systems

Now that the weather is warmer, you’ll be watering more often. Take some time to check your garden hoses for damage. Turn on your sprinkler and irrigation systems to make sure everything works and the water reaches where you need it. Now is the time to get your sprinklers serviced before you really need it.

Take a Look at Your Deck or Patio

Because this is Florida, you didn’t have to ignore your deck or patio completely this winter. But now is a great time to be outside. Walk around and check for broken or weak places that could be a tripping hazard. This is also a good time to get new patio furniture or spruce up your cushions and umbrella.

Bring Back the Birds

If you like the idea of birds chirping in your backyard, now is the time to coax them back. Put out hummingbird feeders with sugar water. Get a bird bath and fill it with water. When you’re done you can sit on your back porch and enjoy the birds in the morning with your cup of coffee.

Take Care of Your Grass

Now is the time to fertilize and put down new sod or plugs in bare spots. You’ll also want to check your lawn equipment to make sure it’s working well. You might not have had to mow much over the winter, but now the grass will grow much faster and you need your mower and trimmer to work.

Spring in Tampa is a beautiful time of year. Make your home even more beautiful, whether you’re planning to sell or not, by taking care of your yard. Once you’re done, you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
